What We Believe

1. We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as being the inspired Word of God, completely without errors in the original writings, and of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
3. We believe Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and is fully divine and fully human.
4. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice and that all who place faith in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood and restored to right relationship with God.
5. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there as High Priest and One who pleads on our behalf.
6. We believe Jesus will one day return to fully eradicate evil, restore all creation from the ravages of sin and establish His reign of righteousness over all things.
7. We believe people were created in the image of God but chose disobedience (sin) and incurred the penalty of both physical and spiritual death, which is separation from God. We believe that since that original fall, all people are born with a sinful nature.
8. We believe all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God, a relationship in which they are eternally secure.
9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the saved to eternal life and the lost to eternal punishment.
10. We believe Satan is a real created being, a fallen angel, the god of this age, the adversary of Christ and His Church, and that his destiny is eternal punishment.
11. We believe God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.
12. We believe God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman, and that intimate sexual activity is to occur exclusively within that union.
13. We believe all human life, is created by God and sacred; to be valued, protected and defended from conception through natural death.

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. In the event of debatable points of faith, doctrine, practice, policy or discipline, the Elder Council of Dungeness Community Church serves as the final interpretive authority of the Bible’s application and meaning on matters directly influencing our communal practice of faith within Dungeness Community Church.
