Cherrie Bishop - Children's Ministry

Cherrie was born in Yakima, but spent most of her childhood living in Seward, Alaska, where her father was a fisherman and worked in law enforcement.  She developed an adventuresome spirit in the frontier atmosphere there, and participated in many Christian and school related camps, sometimes in remote areas.

Cherrie’s interest in education for children led her to more than thirty years of involvement in many different children’s programs.  She has served children through Christian camps, Sunday School and weekday programs, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and Vacation Bible School. In addition to teaching and counseling children, Cherrie has trained teachers, prepared curriculum, and administered various programs.

In 2007, Cherrie became the Children’s Ministry leader at DCC.  In that role, she supervises the church’s programs for all children from birth through 5th grade.

Cherrie has been married to her husband, Chuck, since 1978.  They have three grown daughters and one son-in-law. Cherrie fulfilled a long-time dream three years ago by skydiving with her daughter—an experience she considers a highlight of her life.

Cherrie is a graduate of Multnomah School of the Bible (now Multnomah University), with double major in Bible and Christian Education.
